What Measurements Should We Pay Attention To When It Comes To Working Out?

Many times we use measurements when it comes to gauging our progress in things like the effectiveness of our weight training or workout programs. We might say, "The one with the largest biceps wins," or something similar. So what are the measurements we should be looking at if we want to achieve the best shape possible? Is it just a measure of how big we can get, or are there other factors involved?

If your goal is to become as big as possible, then this process becomes very easy. Simply keep applying the tape to the particular parts of your anatomy that you want to develop and look for improvements. If, on the other hand, your goal is to develop a perfectly proportioned body, one that has all the classic form that artists like Da Vinci, Michelangelo and many others have used for centuries, then your goals are much different. Research has shown that this form is most pleasing to look at, and can help you achieve a certain social dominance in your sphere of influence.

If this is your goal, then there are three measurements that are crucial to coming up with this kind of form. They are the measurements of your height, waist and shoulders. That's it! These three are key in developing that certain physique that can help you attain your goals.

You begin with your height measurement and this will give you the ideal measurements of your shoulders and waist in relation to this height. Each of us will have our own number, and this ratio will give you the perfect classic shape every time. Studies have shown that women find men possessing this type of physique most attractive, and men sporting this type of shape have a definite edge. Most men, however, have no idea just what these measurements are, or how to go about getting them.

So to begin, you need to develop a baseline starting point, where you are in relation to the ideal male form. Once you have this info, you're far more likely to be able to see just where you need to go. Most fitness and exercise programs that are out there have long marketed the idea of helping you achieve your most fit body, but what I'm proposing is going after a perfectly proportioned body in order to get us where we want to be.

Toward this end I use what is known as the "Adonis Index" workout, which strives to use this combination of measurements to deliver up the perfect male physique. It is a program that uses different types of workouts, along with a sensible eating plan to get the type of results you are seeking.

You want to develop certain parts of the body and lose inches in others (usually your waistline) in order to achieve results. This does not involve only using weights, nor exclusively cardiovascular exercise, but a sane fusion of several disciplines, all designed with one goal in mind: to deliver up a perfectly proportioned male physique.
